Are you finding it hard to resist the pull of your phone these days? So much is going on in our world right now, and it’s hard to step away from all the noise and information.

In this week’s episode, I’m giving you some easy and tangible ideas for how to limit your scrolling and put technology in a healthier place in your life.

This Week’s Practice: How to Drastically Reduce the Pull of Technology

  • Reduce your use of technology by going analog.

    • Read a physical bible instead of through the app on your phone.

    • Instead of typing something, grab a piece of paper and a pen and physically write. (See Episode 3: Clear the Mental Clutter)

  • Find key moments of your day that you usually fill with noise, and fill it with silence instead.

    • The next time you drive, don’t listen to music or a podcast.

    • Go on a walk and don’t bring your earbuds. Just walk in silence.

    • When you’re waiting in line somewhere, instead of looking at your phone, just take in your surroundings.

  • When you pick up your phone, know exactly why you’re doing it.

    • Key Question: What are you hoping to find here?

  • Connect with people offline instead.

  • Set a limit for your scroll.

    • Before opening social media, set a timer for five minutes.

    • Decide what times of day you will NOT be on social media.
