Do your days seem to go by in a blur of mundane, meaningless tasks and to-dos?

In this episode, we'll learn about a 17th-century monk who found God simply by washing dishes. We'll talk about practical ways to find meaning, even in the most boring, routine parts of our days.

This Week’s Practice: Practicing the Presence of God

The Practice: As you go about your day, be mindful and aware of God’s presence with you.

What We Learn from Brother Lawrence:

  1. Even mindless and mundane tasks can be filled with purpose and meaning.

1 Corinthians 10:31: “So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.”

  2. It’s possible to connect with God even when you’re doing things that feel like a distraction from God.

Practical Ways to Practice the Presence of God

  • Set an alarm on your phone to go off every hour with the reminder: Practice the presence of God

  • Put a prayer in a visible place (by your computer, on the fridge, etc.): "God, thank you that you are always with me."

  • Say a one-sentence breath prayer throughout your day (Learn more in Episode 4)

  • Practice a daily review to notice how God was with you during all parts of your day (Learn more in Episode 7)
